14th Chemical Conference and Cross-Strait Seminar Held

The 14th National Chemical Conference on Water Treatment of the Chinese Chemical Society and the Cross-Strait Water Treatment Chemistry Seminar were held at Tongji University from May 10 to May 11, 2018. The conference set up 6 branch venues with a total of more than 150 oral reports, of which the conference theme report was 9 games, and the branch invitation report totaled 32 games. In addition, 149 posters were displayed. More than 700 experts and scholars from all over the world gathered together. Everyone had a lively discussion, brainstorming and inspiration.

The conference was sponsored by the Council of Water Treatment Chemistry of the Committee of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Chemical Society. It was organized by the college of environmental science and engineering of Tongji University, the state key laboratory of pollution control and resource reuse, the UN environment agency - environment and sustainable development school of Tongji University, key laboratory of the ministry of education of Yangtze river water environment, and urban pollution control national engineering research center. The theme of the conference is the new technology and chemical principle of water pollution control. Experts and representatives of water treatment experts from across the country (including Hong Kong and Taiwan regions) and Australia, the United States, and Japan. They gathered in Shanghai to exchange ideas and discussed plans for the development of water treatment disciplines.

On the morning of the 10, the opening ceremony was filled with seats. Mr. Zhang Weixian, the professor of environmental science and engineering institute of Tongji University, and the chairman of the 14th National Water Treatment Chemicals Conference, announced the grand opening of the conference and sounded the horn of this academic trip.

   Mr. Professor Wu Jiang, the executive vice president of Tongji University and dean of the UN Environment Agency - environment and sustainable development institute of Tongji University, addressed the opening ceremony and expressed his warm welcome to all the guests present at the opening ceremony. He also wished the conference a complete success.

Mr. Professor Dai Xiaohu, the dean of the environmentalscience and engineering institute of Tongji University, introduced the development history of environmental science and engineering of Tongji University and the achievements of first-rate discipline construction. At the same time, he expressed his hope for the success of the conference.

On the afternoon of the 11, with the joint witness of Mr. Prof. Yao Chonghua, the initiator of the water treatment chemicals conference, and Mr. Prof. Yang Min, the president of the council, the torch relay for the successful implementation of the conference was completed. The environment school of Harbin institute of technology received the relay baton from the environmental science and engineering institute of Tongji University. The spirit of the meeting will be passed on, and the development of the conference will continue to flourish. At the end, the conference came to a successful conclusion.
